Insulation done right

The single biggest lever on your energy bill

Spray foam, batt, and blown-in insulation installed to code, sealed to perform, and documented for your warranty.

Insulation looks simple in a YouTube video. In the wall, it's not. Air gaps, compressed batts, missing vapor barriers, and electrical-box leaks erase most of what a fluffy R-value rating promises on paper. SBC Construction installs insulation the way the manufacturers actually specify — full-depth, air-sealed at every penetration, and inspected before the drywall goes up.

Quality vs corner-cutting

What professional work looks like.

Plenty of contractors deliver what looks like a finished project. Here's what separates work that holds up from work that fails quietly.

Done right
  • Air-sealing penetrations (top plates, can lights, electrical boxes) before insulation goes in
  • Full-depth batts cut around obstructions, not stuffed
  • Spray foam applied at correct thickness and temperature so it cures properly
  • Blown-in density measured, not guessed
  • Vapor barrier oriented correctly for our Kentucky climate zone
  • Insulation type matched to the assembly (attic vs. crawlspace vs. cathedral ceiling)
Corners cut
  • Stuffing batts behind wires and pipes (compresses to half the R-value)
  • Skipping air-sealing because 'the insulation will fill the gap' (it won't)
  • Spraying foam too thick in one pass (causes shrinkage and pull-away from studs)
  • Wrong vapor-barrier orientation (traps moisture in the wall)
  • Treating the attic and crawlspace the same (they need different strategies)
Our process

How the project actually runs.

  1. 01
    Free assessment

We walk the home, measure existing R-values, and identify the air leaks that are actually costing you money.

  2. 02
    Written proposal

You see the exact materials, R-values, square footage, and cost — no surprise change orders.

  3. 03
    Pre-insulation air sealing

We seal penetrations before insulation goes in. This is what makes the rated R-value real.

  4. 04
    Install to spec

Full-depth batts, measured blown-in density, two-pass spray foam where called for. Photos at every stage.

  5. 05
    Inspection-ready handoff

Documentation for your records, your inspector, and your warranty.

Insulation FAQ

What clients ask before they hire us.

Yes, but only if the air leaks get sealed first. We've measured 20–35% reductions in heating and cooling costs on homes where the air sealing was done properly along with the insulation. Without air sealing, you can double the R-value and barely move the bill.
